Scenario Project Luca Veggetti

Scenario, co-produced by Oriente Occidente Dance Festival and the Mart, is a choreographic performance-installation conceived around the theme of combat. It will be articulated in the rooms of the museum in a path that, in its continuous articulation and reconfiguration, is confronted with the architecture and the permanent collection. The theme of combat is treated in its possible meanings, meanings and metaphorical values: from the interior to the archetypal and universal theme of figurative combat. An idea embodied by four dancers and a singer who, realizing their identity through their actions, explore the possible configurations and formal relationships of the means by which it is expressed: movement, dance, voice and sound. Combat, as an ancestral choreographic model, is the expression of a transcultural archetype that since ancient times embodies the tension that can exist between the mimetic essence of dance and the more abstract. The performance therefore lives in the spatialization, in the simultaneity of events, in polyphony and choreography as a means of organization and creation of structures. The dialogue and counterpoint between the various sections and a series of works from the collection specially selected and relocated within the museum, grant the combat and the adjacent situations, such as preparation and lament, a sacred, special space that limits and circumscribes them. From the series of performances, a video installation will be created which, linking the choreographic material with the selected works, will be available during the Mart's opening hours.

The choreographer Luca Veggetti spent with the dancers and collaborators of the project, a period of residency at CID between August and September 2016 to complete the performance presented on 1, 2 and 3 September in the foyers of the Mart during the thirty-sixth edition of Oriente Occidente Dance Festival.
